"Departures" Film Viewing and Discussion
Funeral Consumers
Alliance of the Piedmont will sponsor a viewing and discussion of the
film "Departures" on Sunday, September 26, 2010, at the Glenwood Branch
Library, 1901 West Florida Street in Greensboro, from 2:30 p.m. to 5
p.m. This event is free and open to the public. No reservations
required.
“Departures” is a
2008 Japanese film by Yōjirō Takita that won the Academy Award for Best
Foreign Language Film at the 2009 Oscars. It is a comical and yet
poignant view into the Japanese culture surrounding end of life
practices, as well as the life of a young couple. It is rated PG-13 for
thematic content.
