Members are our
lifeblood! Though we
have no brick-and-mortar presence or paid staff, we’re effective
because, as members, we share a passion: advocating for family rights
and options at life’s end. Whether we have only two hours a year to
contribute or serve on our active board, we find many vital ways to
contribute through our shared involvement in our chapter’s work.
To join, simply print out, complete and submit an application.
We request a donation of $25 at the time of application. All funeral
consumers in the Piedmont are welcomed, without regard to religion,
race, age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity or income level.
Membership is by household, so that anyone living in our households
benefits. The only restriction to membership is that nobody in a
member’s household may have a direct stake in any commercial firm whose
primary function is providing funeral goods or services, since we are
strictly a consumer organization. (However, funeral industry
professionals may join our associate member mailing list to receive
public notices about chapter activities.)
As member volunteers, all of us in Funeral Consumers Alliance of the
Piedmont give and receive through mutual service:
An
end-of-life resource binder
Printed
versions of our latest consumer research studies
Workshops
and other events on end of life topics
Statutory
forms for living wills and health care powers of attorney
Information
on funeral consumer rights and options
Advocacy for
families who want to explore do-it-yourself funerals
Advocacy for
families in the North Carolina General Assembly
Invitations
to our book club gatherings
Reciprocity with FCA affiliates across
America.
